A man has been charged with murder and aggravated assault following a shooting at a Target store in Austin's Arbor Trails shopping center on the evening of August 12, 2025. According to the Austin Police Department (APD), the incident began as a domestic dispute that escalated inside the store, leading to gunfire. The suspect, identified as David Lee Walker, 34, was quickly apprehended by officers after attempting to flee the scene. One victim, a 42-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 38-year-old female was transported to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and is in stable condition. The names of the victims have been withheld pending family notification. In a statement, APD Chief David Carter praised the swift actions of both police officers and Target employees in managing the situation and ensuring the safety of other shoppers. The department has confirmed that the incident was isolated and poses no ongoing threat to the public.
