An active shooter incident at Fort Stewart military installation in Georgia has resulted in multiple casualties, with reports indicating at least two fatalities and several injuries, according to a public affairs official. The incident, which began around 1:30 PM local time, prompted a lockdown of the entire base, with military police and local law enforcement responding immediately to secure the area and neutralize the threat. The shooter, identified as a service member, was reportedly apprehended shortly after the incident and is currently in custody. While the base remained on high alert, military officials confirmed the situation was contained and there was no further danger to the community. In a brief statement to the media, a base spokesperson said, "Our thoughts are with the victims and their families. The safety and security of our personnel and their families are our utmost priority, and we are working closely with law enforcement to investigate this tragic event." The names of the victims and the shooter have been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
